Set an expiry and revoke a share link
Outcome: a link that dies on its own on a date you chose, and the ability to kill any link you already sent. You need a document with at least one link.
Set an expiry when you create the link
- Open Documents, click the document, click Manage links.
- In the create form, fill in Expires (optional) with the date and time the link should stop working.
- Click Create link.
On the free plan, a link you create without an expiry expires 30 days after creation. Setting an earlier date is allowed; a later one is not on Free. On Pro there is no default expiry, so leaving the field empty makes a link that lives until you revoke it.
Revoke a link you already sent
- Open the document's Manage links page. The Share links list shows every link with its mode and status.
- Find the link and click Revoke. The button reads Revoking... while it works, then the link shows as revoked.
The link stops working immediately for everyone who has it. The document stays, its analytics stay, and any other links on the same document keep working. Revoking frees one of the free plan's 3 active-link slots on that document.
Re-enable a revoked link
A revoked link can be turned back on from the same list. Re-enabling counts against the active-link limit again, so on the free plan you may need to revoke another link first.
What the recipient sees
An expired link, a revoked link and a link that never existed all show the same generic not-available page. The page does not say which of the three it was, on purpose, so nobody can probe your links to learn which ones are real.
If something looks wrong
- You cannot set an expiry later than 30 days: that is the free plan's ceiling. Pro links have no default expiry.
- You revoked the wrong link: re-enable it from the list.
- You want to change the expiry of a sent link: create a new link with the new date and revoke the old one.

Frequently asked questions
- Does revoking delete the document?
- No. Only the link stops working. The document, its analytics and its other links stay exactly as they were.
- Can I extend an expiry after sending?
- Create a new link with the later date and send it. Existing links keep the expiry they were created with. On Pro, links have no default expiry, so you can leave the field empty.
- What does the recipient see after revocation?
- A generic page saying the link is not available. It does not say whether the link expired, was revoked or never existed.
